TFIBFTL – Sasquatch 2015

Sasquatch Music Festival 2015 Ballons These People are Groovy Passed Out at the Music Festival Sasquatch Music Festival - The Gorge Third Eye

The film is back from the lab! I made a whirlwind trip to photograph the Sasquatch Music Festival in the Gorge over Memorial Day weekend. I only had one day to shoot and a terrible night of sleep in the parking lot, but it was still great.

I’ve shot at the festival for a number of years and it’s always been great. For starters, my buddy Adam is the guy in charge of the line up and he’s got so much talent for booking solid headliners and fantastic support acts. There is always some band that you’ve never heard of, but who will be huge in a year or two playing on some small side stage. Once you factor in the amazing landscape and all the kooky kids, it just becomes magical.

TFIBFTL – Halloween Edition!

Strutter Kiss Cover Band

The film is back from the lab! Halloween edition! I shot this a few weeks back at Minneapolis ad agency Modern Climate. It’s not every day that you get to spit blood and rock out at work, but for their five year bash they had an awesome Kiss tribute band perform.

This caps off the end of a busy week of meetings in NYC, including some great reviews at the At Edge portfolio review event. Now that that’s all wrapped up, it’s time to rock and roll all night and stuff.

The Film is Back from the Lab – Evening Walks Edition

Rebecca and I have been taking nice long walks with the film cameras in tow. We usually start out at Gold Medal Park and head across the mighty Mississippi River. More often than not, we end up on Nicollet Island, a magical island in the middle of the city that shows up a lot in Rebecca’s painting work.

The best part is that we usually end up hitting Izzy’s ice cream on the way home.

Welcome to this week’s edition of “The Film is Back from the Lab”

We recently spent a week adventuring with our Scamp camper on its inaugural journey up to the north shore of Lake Superior. It was the perfect summer get away with spectacular weather, picnics on abandoned docks and hikes along the rugged shorline. This is the analog version, complete with an accidental opening of the back of the camera. You can follow along with the digital edition on the Field Office blog (here, here and here)

Welcome to the first installment of “The Film is Back from the Lab!” a new weekly feature on the blog.

I love the magic of trying to capture things on film, and not knowing if you got it. There has been quite a backlog on getting to the lab, so we have some catching up to do that includes a surprise roll of film from Minnesota’s epic winter.

Stay tuned for sunnier images in next weeks installment.
